Abstract

In the era of rapid technological advancements and global competition, there is a pressing need to revitalize India’s education system by integrating traditional Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) with modern pedagogies. This paper explores how NEP 2020’s emphasis on holistic, multi-disciplinary, and flexible education can be strengthened by incorporating the timeless wisdom of IKS, including the Vedas, Upanishads, and indigenous practices like Yoga, Ayurveda, and Vedic mathematics. These systems not only promote cognitive development but also nurture creativity, innovation, and ethical values in students, preparing them to be global leaders.

The paper will discuss successful case studies where IKS has been applied in educational institutions to enhance learning outcomes, focusing on how these practices contribute to sustainable development, mental well-being, and community building. By aligning IKS with contemporary educational strategies, India can develop a globally recognized education model that not only preserves its rich cultural heritage but also fosters innovation and critical thinking in the modern world.

The findings aim to demonstrate that integrating IKS into modern curricula promotes a balanced education system, fostering intellectual and emotional development while nurturing creativity and problem-solving skills in students. This paper is part of an ongoing effort to contribute to India’s knowledge economy while preserving its deep-rooted traditions.
