Screening of award winning short flick ‘Jhelum’ at PCTE
Ludhiana, September 1, 2016: Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, PCTE organized a screening of an award winning short movie titled ‘Jhelum’ in their campus today. The movie is directed by Rakesh Gogna. TV actor Vikas Sharma who has more than four years of acting experience and has acted in this movie, addressed the students and faculty in the campus.
The movie is based on the present mindset of Kashmiri Pundits after living as a refugee for 25 years in their own country. While addressing the audience, actor Vikas Sharma, who has done a cameo role in recently ended hit daily soap ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ and has also done a lead role in Savdhan India said, “Our team decided to make a short film over ever rising issue in Kashmir. Depicting the deep history in 39 minutes was a challenging job for us. I chose for this movie because I was and I am very concerned about the issues of our nation especially in beautiful valley. This movie has won the best political award in International film festival Jaipur.”
Later, he interacted with the students and addressed a few queries raised by students.
Dr. K.N.S. Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of Institutes congratulated the department for taking the initiative of showing message oriented short movies to the students. He said, “Such serious issues should be showed to the youth today in order to make them more aware about the history and present serious conditions of the country. We look forward to similar documentaries and movies in future as well.”
Department in-charge Kanwarpreet Singh thanked the actor for visiting the campus and also presented a token of love to him.
