Keeping in mind the increasing rate of heart diseases, high blood pressure, increasing intake of drugs in Punjab, PCTE Group of Institutes took a proactive approach in organizing “Run For Fitness”, at its Campus II today afternoon. To promote the message of keeping good health among youth the event was customized, where hundreds of students participated and completed the Road race.
This is the regular event, which helps students realize the benefits of maintaining good health and good lifestyle in the smart street world they have to create a space for themselves today. Tsherin, a student from Bhutan doing BBA at PCTE said, “In her country it is a physical tough terrain, and it makes it easier for them to jog out on even geographical ground.” She added that it was necessary that the students are in perfect health and activities like these shape the behavior of students.
PCTE Group of Institutes embarking on its excellent track record of co-curricular activities and strong academic hold organized the ‘Run for Fitness’ event for the students and staff alike. The race took off from Campus-II and concluded at Campus-I. In all, 481 boys, 243 girls and 15 faculty and staff members participated in the event. The students were highly motivated and cheered on by their classmates and other faculty members. The students ran for about 2 kilometers, and all of them completed the race.
Dr. K.N.S.Kang, Director General of the PCTE Group of Institutes, said that “The run was an effort on the part of institute to promote fitness and awareness among the youth. Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, but also it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The importance of physical fitness and exercise, customized to the specific requirements of both young and old, has led to the popularity and use of exercise equipment.”He stressed on‘Good physical condition, the condition of being Competitive in the Market’.
In boy’s category, BCA 3C won the first position, MBA2C bagged the second, and BCA3A finished at third. Individually for boys, Ravneet Singh from Hotel Management,Ramandeep Singh from BCA 2D, and Raman Singh BCA 3C bagged the respective positions.
In Girl’s category- BCA 3C won the first position, BBA1C bagged the second, and B.Pharma 2ndyear finished at third.Individually for Girls Nelcy MBA 2, Tsherin BBA1D, Simran Kaur MBA 1 C bagged the respective positions.
Faculty member, Mr. Munish Kumar from Airlines department finished foremost, and amongst the lady faculty members, Ms. Rupali from IT department finished first.
